6 Ways to Incorporate Living Coral Color Into Your Wedding

By Gayle Curtis

Life is not black and white!  Your wedding is the most memorable affair of your life, so enhancing it with the perfect color is crucial! “Living Coral,” is a beautiful pink-orange hue that blends in decorating schemes. It’s the 2019 Pantone color of the year, meaning you’re likely to find some coral accessories discounted this year.

Spice up your bridal bouquet with color! Living coral is perfect for table decorations, vases, bridesmaid bouquets, boutonnieres, outdoor trellises, and altars. Your local florist can tell you which blooms are available at the time of your wedding.

Oklahoma native flowers can provide wonderful accents for your outdoor wedding. For example, shades of pink, orange, and coral are rampant among Texas Indian Paintbrush wildflowers — plant them in containers to make your own centerpieces. The coral colors will look great amid your thick, green lawn. Indian Blanket is another native flower that blooms in shades of coral, red, and yellow. Their contrasting hues brighten up tables, chairs, and archways.

Paper and Linens

You can add a coral tint to invitations, cocktail napkins, welcome bags, and place cards. Order thank-you notes that feature your special branding color. Talk to your wedding coordinator about tablecloths, menu cards, napkins, seat covers, yarmulkes, or candy wrappers. Most paper and novelty companies offer favors in Pantone’s color palettes, and you may get a discount on living coral this year.  Wedding officiants can wear a coral tie or handkerchief during the ceremony.

Attendant Gifts

Infuse bridesmaids and groomsmen gifts with Living Coral! While putting on makeup for the event, ladies can wear new bathrobes embroidered with their initials. Speaking of makeup, your attendants may enjoy a new cosmetics bag with just the right hues to match their dresses. Specially made photo albums, jewelry, scarves, and other accessories help your female friends remember their role in your big day. Groomsmen might like color-highlighted carry-on bags, flasks, or grilling utensils in your color. With a coral-covered hue, etch your friends’ names or initials into each item.

Wedding Favors

Wedding mementos come in all types, and they don’t have to be expensive.  Enhance the items your guests will take home with them with living coral. Candy is a given …  toss a few of those little treat-filled bags on each table … and a special gift for each guest.

Other possibilities include:

  • Keyrings and bottle openers.
  • Glass containers or candle holders.
  • Picture frames.
  • Candy and candy jars.
  • Live plants (dressed up with ribbons in living coral).
  • Figurines and knickknacks,

Spice up just about any tchotchke with ribbons and streamers matching your nuptial wedding colors. Your wedding officiant in OKC will blend right in!

Lighting

Enhance your wedding reception with coral-colored lighting in overhead fixtures and table lamps, even candles!  Spruce up lamp shades with material that matches the bridesmaid dresses. Check with the photographer to see if he or she has any color screens for touching up a few of your wedding pictures. Color up the dancefloor with “Living Coral,” it will make that first bride and groom dance extra special.

Marine Theme

As ocean-lovers know, coral is a big part of marine life. Create an ocean-themed reception with this dynamic color highlighting the décor. If you have a photographer’s stage for guest pictures, set up a marine background of painted coral and marine life. The scenes and possibilities are endless!

No matter how you color it, your wedding day is the end of a long planning process. When it comes to lifelong wedding ceremonies, yours is the only one that matters! Wedding officiants in Oklahoma understand this, and so do those who help you put it all together.  Choose today’s “in” color scheme or something else that strikes your fancy, but remember that not everyone looks good in certain shades — hues and designs should enhance your attendants’ best features.  At the end of the day, the pictures and videos matter a lot. Bring it all together, and you’ll have the colorful wedding of your dreams!
