It’s Spring and Love is in the Air!

At last, spring is upon us and with it comes new life! From blooming flowers to budding trees, no wonder this time of year is such a love fest. The spring season is a great time for couples to tie the knot. Whether you’re thinking of having a big wedding or a small backyard gathering, the months of April and May are perfect for saying, “I do.”

Dr. John Patrick Keefe II, a wedding officiant in Oklahoma City, enjoys performing spring weddings, especially when they are outside. Here’s what he had to say about why spring is such a special time to get married:

“Spring represents a new beginning, a time of hope, love, and laughter. Couples couldn’t pick a better time to get married because of what the spring season represents. Imagine yourself saying your vows to one another under the canopy of a blooming jasmine tree with birds softly chirping in the distance and sweet breezes tickling your skin. Sounds perfect to me!”

I couldn’t agree with Dr. Keefe more! In my opinion, there is nothing prettier than a bride walking through a patch of fresh grass and wildflowers on her way to meet her groom. If this sounds like something that makes your heart beat a little faster, consider the possibilities that a spring wedding can bring to the table.

Here are some ideas for spring wedding themes and decorations:

  • Fairy themed wedding
  • Garden wedding
  • A sweet ceremony in the morning followed by an outdoor reception
  • Going barefoot
  • Using the sky as your canopy
  • Getting married under your favorite childhood tree
  • Using nature as your floral arrangement
  • Taking wedding pictures in a variety of sunny and spring-like spots
  • A spring outdoor wedding saves money
  • Wearing spring colors like pink, yellow, and baby blue

One of the things that stands out to me about having a spring wedding is the idea of new life. When a couple gets married, they breathe new energy into each other. They are two hearts that beat as one. Spring is a time that even the animals recognize as a new beginning as this is when they typically give birth to their young. Even the plants start anew in spring. I can’t think of a better time to get married.

Spring weather, depending on where you live, is typically very mild. It’s not too hot but not too cold. Having an outdoor wedding during the spring season is great because you don’t have people dying of heatstroke as they would be in the dead of summer, yet they aren’t freezing either. Consider setting up tents at your spring wedding where people can sit, dance, and eat.

Remember, you usually only get one wedding in your lifetime, so make it a good one. If spring is your idea of the perfect time to commit yourselves to one another, go for it! Just know, with all the new life blooming around you, your spring wedding night might make you new parents.
